Can you get an ID card anywhere other than the DMV?

some other places sell ID cards that will have your picture and birthday.
However, places are not legally allowed to accept these other ID cards as proof of age when buying cigarettes, alocohol, R rated DVDs, etc.
So, it would just be better to get your ID from the DMV.
