Is this allowed with auto insurance?

If my uncle bought me a car, and the car and registration is under his name, can the insurance be under just mine or does it have to be under both?

If he is the registered owner and the one under the insurance just make sure that on the insurance policy that you are listed as an additional driver or else if you get in a wreck he will be held liable so just add ure self in the additional driver section

This is called %26quot;insurable interest%26quot;. The owner of the car MUST be named on the policy. So you both need to be on the policy.
Reply:it will have to be under him but you can be listed as a driver.
Reply:Nate W is wrong. There is no law, that says in order to insure a vehicle, that the vehicle has to be registered to to the person insuring the vehicle. I have been insuring and paying for insurance for vehicles, registered to my Bro-in-law and driven by me and my wife for 25 years
